Help, anyone? I don't care if I can't get the audio, I just want the video footage. It's currently in .VOBB. Someone told me I could just change the file extension to .MPG but I made a copy, tried that, and it didn't work. Preferred new format for the files is anything I can play with in Quicktime Pro and iMovie.
This newb greatly appreciates any/all assistance.
    Thanks!

Go get MpegStreamclip and use that to play the .vob.
from there, with the QT Mpeg-2 Component add on,
you can export the .vob to .mov or dv stream to import
into QT or iMovie from MpegStreamclip.

I got MPEGStreamClip, but not QT Mpeg-2 Component. It appears to cost money... Is there a cheaper/free version of it anywhere that will do what I need, or do I really have to fork over the $$? Also, the clips which would play in VLC don't appear to play in MPEGStreamClip. I mean, the little timer thing is moving, but nothing else is and there's no sound.
    Newb at work! Help appreciated!

that's what the QT Mpeg-2 component is for.

sorry no freeware...The component is FREE is you bought Final Cut Pro / Studio,
but otherwise, you have to pay for it. *shrugs*
It does, however pay for itself when used in conjunction with MpegStreamclip.....
