I have an ATI AIW radeon, with MMC 7.1, I always could capture good, until one day I tried to capture and it just wouldnt capture the sound, all the cables are connected properly, and I can hear the sound when I play it from the VCR on MMC's TV, so it can't be the sound card, any suggestions??
Please Help, I've been workin on this for HOURS now.
Thank You
Eric

make sure you have DirectX 8.0a and the DirectX 8.0a DV/Video Capture update
there's about 20 threads on this topic, so search for them. i have an AIW 128, and don't have any sound problems, so i can't help any more than to tell you to make sure you select the "line-in" during the install/setup wizard under TV setup, and make sure under the windows RECORDING volume (double-click yellow speaker and properties) you have "line in " checked and not at zero volume when you're capturing.
what you hear and what you record are not necessarily the same thing unless you set it up that way.

I have had this problem before. I called ATI on it and they were clueless. I figure it's a registry problem, because restoring the registry fixed it.
I have found that ATI's programs and drivers tend to easily corrupt the registry and strange stuff happens. I have had it where it would record sound but video from the composite video in instead of tuner (WTF?? I know....) and just as you describe, video from the tuner but no sound, even though you can hear it ok while it's recording it.
Don't bother calling ATI, you'll spend 45 minutes on hold on your own dime and get nothing from tech support for your troubles.
My advice is reinstall Windows and make a backup with Drive Image or Ghost.
