When using GUI for DVDAuthor, I have a MP2 file playing background music on four menus and all my MPV files have MP2 audio streams as well. When I create an ISO from this program, I can play the DVD through VLC and I can hear the audio play during the menus and during the video titles I select. I can't hear the audio from WMP, Media Player Classic, or I have burn it on a DVD, I can't hear the background menu audio on a PS2 DVD player, but I can hear the video titles if I click on them. I can hear the first few seconds of the background menu audio on a Toshiba DVD player, but then it just resets the DVD and loops the first few seconds forever. I can hear the video title audio on the Toshiba DVD player. Any suggestions?
    Thanks! You guys rock.

  2. Have a look at the last point in the FAQ:
    http://download.videohelp.com/gfd/Help/GfdFAQ.html

Are the MP2 files for the menus the same type (bitrate + channels) as the MP2 files for the video?

Aha! I hadn't thought of that.
The .mpa in the video (sorry, I said .mp2 earlier) is 256 Kbps at 48000 Hz while the .mp2 in the background menu is 320 Kbps at 44100 Hz. I'll run the "Create DVD" process again and let you know if that works.
    Thanks for the suggestions!

DVD audio should always be 48000 sample rate.

Well, I used SuperC to convert those files and if I listen to the output file, it sounds fine, but when I put it into GFD and Create the DVD, it now starts to play with WMP and MPC, but it will play for a few seconds and then it seems like it skips a beat, and then plays for a few seconds. It's really choppy. And now, VLC is really choppy too. I'll play around with it more tomorrow, but just wanted to post this.
    Thanks!

Well, still no luck with this one. Again, the audio mp2 file plays fine in any media player and when I put it in GFD Author (which is really, really cool for being open source) and burn an iso file, VLC plays the audio perfectly in the menus but the video preview thumbnails of my video are choppy. WMP and Media Player Classic play the video preview thumbnails perfectly but it puts a one second pause every few seconds in the menu's audio. Any ideas would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

  7. ...the audio mp2 file plays fine in any media player

Are all your audio files same type now for menus and movies (all are mp2, 48 kHz, 2 channel with the same bitrate)?

Can you put your saved project file (.gfd), the author.xml file and the log file in a zip archive and post it here (or send it by e-mail - my e-mail address can be found in the log file)? It is quite hard to judge what could be wrong without exact knowledge about your source files and settings...

BTW: Have you tried to use the MuxMan engine?
Look here: http://download.videohelp.com/gfd/Help/MuxMan.html and here http://download.videohelp.com/gfd/Help/DefaultPermSettings.html for more info!

Yes, my audio files are now all .mp2, 48 kHz, 2 channel with the same bitrate. I'll post that on Monday since I won't be by that computer for the weekend.
    Thanks!

  9. As I'm on a business trip next week, I will probably have no opportunity to check your files before Thursday. So you have enough time!

Here it is. I haven't tried Muxman, but I'll take a look at those links. Thanks!

  11. Ok. I can 'reproduce' the problem. Using WMP or MPC as player I have also some 'drops' in the audio. Using PowerDVD as player, I have no problems.
When I create the same project with muxman as engine, I don't have problems with any player so far. Test it!

Aha! That fixed it. Thanks! One more question though: how can you get the post action after a video is played to return back to that same menu. I have 18 videos with 4 menus (one main menu and three menus with 6 videos a piece). If I play the 13th video on Menu 2, it goes back to the main menu. I would like it to return back to menu 2.
    Thanks again!

  13. Unfortunately I have not programmed an automatic for this action yet. It's on my to do list, but ATM I'm a little bit tired of programming GfD. Therefore you can only set up the post command yourself. Open the Video and Audio files dialog (or just remember to do this, when you add a new movie) and click on 'Edit Pre/Post Command'. In the following dialog, click in the (empty) frame with the Post commands and then click on 'Calc Standard' below the Post commands frame. Then you can edit the 'return to' menu (it should be correct already if you do it this way).

Yay! That worked! Thanks! I don't mind doing the post command. I can understand working on something and getting tired of it, but I can't imagine the scale of your project. I just spent 2 and a half months working on this off and on ... no telling how long you worked on it. The software is very nice.
