UK is PAL Format.
USA is NTSC Format.
Eliminating the region code problem
still leaves you with the PAL/NTSC problem. -
Assuming you have the HTS3544 and not the HDS3544 (which doesn't exist), there is a region free hack in the DVD Hacks section. I don't know how well that player handles the PAL to NTSC conversion, so don't be surprised if the quality isn't very good.
On a side note, those editions will likely be released soon from the UFC (they are currently up to vol 8).Google is your Friend -

If the region free hack works for you (usually Philips DVD players can be made region free, so you should be good here), go into the video setup and change the output from "Multi" or "Any" to "NTSC". Many HDTVs sold in the USA cannot correctly display PAL signals. Some can. Some can't. I don't know about your TV. Changing the video output on the DVD player to NTSC makes sure that your TV can display the signal.
A more expensive DVD player like something from Oppo (http://www.oppodigital.com) will surely do a better job of PAL to NTSC conversion, but honestly the Philips may work good enough for you. If you don't like it, you can always buy an Oppo, which ship region free.
