hiya. this is my first time to post a new thread here. i was wondering if you could help me. ive downloaded a video off youtube as an .flv file. i'd like to ask for recommendations on how to convert them into any format specially in order to burn them onto a DVD so i can watch them onto my DVD player. (note: my DVD player is multi-system, multi-region and DivX capable) so far, the ones ive found are either freeware/shareware, full of spywares (as it affected my PC), converts only up to 70% or there is premium to pay which i can't afford right now. pls help

WinFF (free), AlltoAVI (free), QMC (free) : All of these will convert to many different formats, and all can give you Xvid files compliant with most certified players.

Check out what these guys are doing, they are pulling pretty good quality out of shitty Youtube clips (using Avisynth)!

Someone should make a "Youtube Converter" GUI for this stuff lol! Sell it for $10 bucks, you'd be a millionaire overnight ha ha ha ha

Yes, they are free of spyware, and used by many members here on a daily basis. Of course, I can't guarantee that one of the many low grade anti-spyware programs won't claim they have spyware in them - many such programs survive simply by seeing spyware everywhere, mostly where it doesn't exist.

Don't use Total Video Converter ?

That said, basic rule of video is : Garbage in, garbage out. Many flv videos are, to be kind, less than optimal quality to begin with. Also, without knowing anything else about your process (you have not given any useful information at all in your post), it is hard to say if your settings are a problem. if your bitrate is too low, for instance, you will degrade the quality.

Frankly, I would not be using Total Video Converter when there are better, free options available to you (see previous posts).

I have all three of the converters mentioned in my first post, however I rarely convert flv to anything because the quality simply isn't there to begin with in most cases.
