    hi,
I've been converting for some time now, but I just cant solve this problem that im having.
when I convert back to dvd from xvid the playback is jumpy or maybe to describe it better, it staggers or pauses for a split second every 1 to 2 seconds. This is most noticeable when there is fast movement.
I've tried several different progz, but all same, variable quality, but same problem.
I'm now using dvdflick to convert back to dvd.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    thanks.

Jumpy on your standalone dvd player or/and computer software dvd player?
Are you doing any PAL/NTSC conversion?

I would try another software like FAVC and see if it works better.

  3. A stutter every second is an indication of an NTSC film to PAL conversion. One way 24 fps film is converted to 25 fps is by duplicating one frame out of every 24. This leads to a small pause once a second.

This can be avoided by speeding up the frame rate rather than duplicating frames but you will also need to speed up the audio.

Another method is to leave the frame rate at 23.976 and use DgPulldown to add pulldown flags. This will give you 2 smaller pauses each second.

    Hi, thanks for your interest.
The playback is the same on both players. (stand alone and pc).

    I will look into Favc.

  5. If NTSC -> PAL conversion is your problem most simple video converters will do the same: duplicate 1 frame out of every 24.

I've looked at the properties of the avi and seems to be PAL 25fps.
I very rearly have any NTSC versions to convert.
