I recently purchased the DVP3360 mainly to playback avi files from the usb slot. Tried it today and the picture quality was quite poor compared to the same file being played on my PC. My television is not HD but it's not really old either, the dvd player is connected by scart to the TV.
The movies aren't choppy but they are very fuzzy, and some have little changes of colour in bright areas.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Are you watching on the same size screen from the same distance? When you enlarge a small frame to a large screen the defects become more noticeable. So if you're comparing watching in a 640x360 window on your computer monitor to full screen on a 32" TV (from the same distance) the bigger TV will look worse. It will be fuzzy and you will be more likely to see DCT ringing and macroblock artifacts.
Another issue that may have some bearing: computer monitors have very different gamma curves compared to television. If someone adjusted the color in the Divx file to look good on a computer monitor it may look overly bright and washed out on a TV.
I recommend you rip a DVD then convert it to high quality Divx yourself. Then compare your Divx file to the DVD. That will tell you if the problem is in your Divx/DVD player.
