What had gone wrong? Failed to convert.

I have downloaded the fffmpegX in pursuant to your instructions
However, after I installed it and made my first attempt to convert an avi to mp4 for my ipod
the follow message came out:

"AppleScript Error
Can't get text item 2 of "/Users/wongnicholas/Desktoy/Gurren.avi". (-1728)"

I made a few attempts to reinstall the programme hoping I could overcome the problem but in vain
I believe I might have done something wrong during my installation or what. Please kindly advise me how to resolve the problem. Thx

Check if there are 'special' characters in your disk name and ffmpegX is at first level of the /Applications folder. Other possibility, your OS X is using foreign localizations? (*)

my hard drive is just named as "Harddisk" and there shall be no special character therein.
ffmpegX was placed in the first level. and i tried again, it still doesn't work.
For the possibility of foreign localization, how can that be cured?

The developer suggests fooling the app into using english for the other language here, including how to do that.
