    Got to make Hitachi PDV-701S portable DVD player region-free... Currently it is set for Region 3 only. Any help greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Working DVD hacks seems to be rarer and rarer. Especially specialty players (like portables) are rarely hackable. If your player isn't listed here, your best bet is Google. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: If you need a region free player, why buy a region locked?
    But then: You can make the DVD (disk) region free by backing it up to DVD-R, as all rippers remove the region protection code, making the disk region free.
