  1. Please help. I have a Durabrand PDV-705 7" Portable DVD Player. I'm missing the proper AV cables for it. On the side it has a Phones input as well as a VIDEO/AUDIO OUT input, S-VIDEO input and a COAXIAL input. I can't for the life of me find the proper cable. I've tried getting the 3.5mm 4 Pole Jack Plug to 3 x RCA Phono Composite & Audio Cable as suggested by some people through my quest to find an answer but they don't seem to work. I only get audio from the TV but no video. Please help direct me to the proper AV cable needed. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you and sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, I figured this is more hardware related than video so I hope it's in the right section. Thanks again.

I would guess that 3 standard RCA cables would work (2 for audio and 1 for video) but you may have to do something special on the player to get to send video out. Do you have the manual? It should tell you how to do that.

Note that this is a "no name" brand and from a quick search I can't find any online manuals for it, so if you bought this without a manual you may be out of luck here unless someone responds who also has the unit and knows how to send video out from it.

  3. You may have a difficult time locating the right AV cable. I own a portable Dynex player and an LG one. The AV cable tip size isn't the same.

In the attached photo, the one on the left is for the Dynex, the other is for the LG. Most cables found on eBay are like the Dynex one. You probably have the Dynex one, so you need to try the longer LG tip. LG supplied the cable with the DP885, DP382, and DP351-N for example. The cable may not be cheap though. I couldn't find it on the Partstore.com website. You can try looking for a defective LG portable player and hope it comes with the AV cable on eBay.

That or cut the tip off the Dynex cable and solder on a new tip. The Dynex tip is about 19/32" long, the LG is about 11/16" (22/32"). No guarantee it'll work and you risk damaging the player.

There are clones of your player: Ultech UT3207 and GPX PDL705. It could be under other brand names as well. Good luck in your search.

  4. Thank you both greatly for the quick replies!! It is greatly appreciated!! em-t-wallitt I believe your correct. I most definitely have Dynex one and always noticed that it didn't seem to go in all the way, like it was to short. I will definitely try and search for the longer LG one instead. Thanks again!!

  5. em-t-wallitt I was able to find this cable at the following site. http://www.emtcompany.com/lg-dp885-tv-cables/pr191bp.html would this be the right one?

  6. Strange that the tiny photo shows only 1 video and 1 white audio plug. I'm not so sure and I have no experience with that company. Maybe you can contact them to email you a closeup photo of the tip and another photo of the cable, before you waste your time and money buying and returning the cable if it doesn't work.

Also, FYI, the Sylvania SDVD9000 player comes with the longer tip AV cable. This may apply to other models in their product line. You can see the other end of Sylvania cable has input jacks, so you need another AV cable from the dollar store to hook up the player to a TV. My Dynex cable is similar to this one.

Thanks a bunch em-t-wallitt your guidance was a great help and is much appreciated. BTW the cable was only $7.00 Shipped to my address in Ontario Canada.

  10. Congratulations on your success in getting a cable that works with your player. Hmmm...$7.00 is not a bad price with shipping included. I might have to get one as a spare. Believe me, I spent a few hours browsing through eBay listings looking for a similar cable. Sandroace, thanks for posting the link to the Sylvania website.

  11. No problem at all and thank you again. I would call the 800 # to order the part. I was actually thinking of ordering one more as a spare as well, now that I know that it works.
