What is the difference between these conversions?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the main differences are between these two conversion methods other than one is completely automated.

1. DAudiioK http://www.rockassoftware.pt.vu/

V.S.

2. Stereo to 5.1 conversion using high end software as mentioned in many of the online guides here such as Plogue.

Would the results be that noticeable?

Anything that is completely automated means you have little to no ability to make adjustments yourself. That is the trade off for convenience.

Level of control. DaudioK is good stuff, however. The Plogue/Bidule methods are fairly complicated, but worth the effort for people who want total control over the final output. Let your ears be the judge.
