Maybe somebody can help me with that. i process an AVI movie into a DVD, and toward the middle of the movie after oubt 40 min, the movie stuck and the picture goes from 3 sec different. i had it before that i thought its the DVD-R that i'm using so i change it to memorex and it works fine. but it starts again, i think because the file is too big or something. i don't know if its the program. if someone can give me suggestion what the best way to do it or what DVD-R to use. i use prgram such as IM TOO or XtoDVD. SantaDVD.
    thanks

Do you mean you are using ConverrtXToDVD? It's a fairly reliable converter. IMToo and DVD Santa aren't.

If your problem is when you play them back on a set top DVD player, I would suspect a media problem first. Memorex is marginal at best for quality. Try a Verbatim DVD disc and you may have better luck. Usually cheaper DVD media craps out in the last 10 to 15 minutes of playback of the disc. If it does it before that, it may be because of the way you converted it or the converter program, or it could be your burner, or even your player.

But the media is the easiest to change to see if that's the problem.

Other than that, you would have to give us specific information about the programs you are using, your media brands, your DVD burner brand and model and the methods you are using. Without a whole lot more info, we would just be guessing.

    And welcome to our forums.

  3. I would try different conversion software first. Maybe DVD Flick. Then I would try burning at low speed.. maybe 4x. If neither of those changes makes a difference then I'd look at the .avi input files. Maybe they're not so good. If the problem doesn't go away please post more info... which burner, which flavor of Windows etc..

Probably a bad AVI, if all tools create the same error at the same place.

I'm confused about the actual problem. There are basically two steps involved here. First is the actual covnersion of the avi file to mpeg2 and creation of a dvd image. Second is the actual burning of the created iso onto the DVD. And then of course the actual playback test using a DVD player and TV.

Where exactly are you having the problem? It sounds like you are stuck on step 1. And if all of the programs you are using are getting stuck on step 1, then you have a bad avi file as mats.holberg pointed out.

the problem is in the burning i think. because i can convert the avi file, and then i burn it to DVD. and i can see the movie on the DVD player for about 30 min, and then the picture of the movie stuck every 5 sec, and the longer the movie goes, it do the same. i don't think its the AVI file because i tried with 3 different movies.

i forgot to add that i can watch the DVD on my computer with no problems. so its somehting with the DVD player not reading the DVD perfect or something like that, while it work good in the past.

Wrong, you either have used crap media or burned too fast!

Sounds like a typical media issue with your DVD player. What brand and model is the player?

While Verbatim and TY are the most reliable, they aren't guaranteed to work. There are too many variables involved. It's possible you are having burn issues either related to the software used to burn (try ImgBurn, it's free and the most reliable) or related to your hardware. What is the brand and model or your DVD burner? Are you using the latest firmware?

That appears to be a laptop drive, probably Samsung. If you are using a laptop for this, you might consider a external burner. Laptop burners may not have firmware updates easily available. And they seem to have more issues that full size burners.

And though Verbatim is a generally good brand of media, it may not be completely compatible with either your burner or your player.
