HI
Sorry!!, not to smart with computers, yet, so I hope this is a simple problem.
I have a HP media center computer, which has worked very well for over 2 years now. I recently wanted to record a holiday music CD for a friend, complete with a holiday lightscribe label. The computer came with a HP 840B, which has always detected the HP lightscribe CD. This time it did not. It will "see" other blank CD's but not the HP Lightscribe. The HP Lightscribe CD's are from the same 25 pack I have been using sucessfully for the last year. The only thing I have installed that effects the burner is Movie Factory 6. Thinking it was the problem I uninstalled it, did a search, including hidden files, for Movie Factory and Ulead, and deleted anything the search found, but the burner still will not "see" the HP cd's. There are a few Ulead files that cannot be erased - Error cannot delete ULCDRSvr.exe; access is denied, located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD, Error cannot delete ogg.dll; access is denied, ulOggVorbisEncoder Filter.ax; access is denied, ulOggVorbisSys.dll; access is denied, Vorbis.dll; access is denied located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\Mpeg. Everything else, in those 2 folders was deleted. I should mention the burner WILL detect Verbatim Lightscribe DVD's
Any ideas??
And if anyone knows of a program that will ACTUALLY remove a program and not just bits and pieces like Microsoft does.
Thanks
and Happy Holidays

OK, first of all your post is unfortunately not clear at all about one thing - is that your drive won't detect the LIGHTSCRIBE part of the disc or that it burned that fine but now it won't burn the DATA side of the disc? Which is it?
I'm not a Ulead fan, but I don't see how Movie Factor can hose your Lightscribe stuff. I've had a few Lightscribe discs where the Lightscribe side wouldn't burn at first, but eventually I got them all burned. Look at the label and if you see big finger smudges, try to remove them with a soft cloth. Also, try rebooting your PC before you try again to burn.
I don't recommend using HP brand Lightscribe CDs. I'd recommend using Verbatim, which is superior quality media. -
Sorry!
It will not recognize the burn side, I'm not sure about the label side since I wasn't able to burn the holiday music.
I insert the CD, shiney silver side down, ( the dark tan side is the label side ), the drive spins, then stops. No option window to choose which program to us. When I try to open the drive, I get " insert disc"
