  1. i hope i chose the correct subforum ?

How can i get back my region settings in CyberLink_PowerDVD_Ultra_Deluxe_v7.3_Build_3319a

For some reason they limit changes to region settings ? Is this lame or ?

im now trying to watch a Bluray movie from another region than my last change

i thought i could simply uninstall and reinstall , but somehow a reinstall

still recalls me as having the region changes , then i tried to remove the program and

any instance of it from my windows(XP) registry , and reinstall the app . The only registry path i found was

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software

Is there something else i can do in the registry to help me along here , or some hack etc to get my region settings

    back ?

    Please advise

    Cheers

No, it won't do either of those. Here's the description for AnyDVD (shareware/commercial software) from VideoHelp's Tools section:

AnyDVD is a driver, which descrambles DVD-Movies and BluRay, HD DVD Movies automatically in the background. This DVD appears unprotected and region code free for all applications and the Windows operating system as well. With the help of AnyDVD you can watch movies with non matching region codes with every DVD Player Software you like!
Just for a slight bit of additional clarification: I don't know if it's handled the same on HD-DVD and Blu-ray drives, but with DVD drives, region changes are tied to the drive itself (in hardware). Normally, no matter what software you use, you can only change the region about 6-7 times before the drive itself is permanently locked to whatever region you last chose.
However, if you're using something like AnyDVD, you don't have to worry about that.

  5. Thanks for the reply

im playing the files from my HDD to avoid such issues you mention

i wonder for anydvd to work must files be played from a BR , HD or DVD player ?

Or can i still play with PDVD from my HDD folder ?

Power dvd has also introduced the problem of limited region changes

But being software there is this regedit work around i mentioned

i simply cant find the path as i read which is as follows in win xp

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID , but im using xp and the only similar regedit path i find is

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

im told i need to use Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 to edit the PDVD settings

Is this some extra program outside of my installed windows i need to buy , because as

i said when i use run/regedit i cant see the needed path nor any way to edit and or open

    any files to do such

    Any more help is appreciated

i leave you with a quote on how its done , but i simply cant find the path nor do i know

what this Windows registry editor version 5 is

    " [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{631400EE-60DF-4014-8A01-67106E57BDA8}]
    @=dword:00000002

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{9CB23675-4229-4630-AFF6-3668BA6AF33E}]
    @=dword:00000004

    Under the first location it stores the region (1 - Region A, 2 - Region B, 4 - Region C).
The number of remaining changes is stored under the second location. Every time you change region in PowerDVD, this number is decremented by 1. You can just put there something like FFFF and forget about it.

By default, there are no values in both locations. PowerDVD interprets this as Region A and 5 remaining changes. When you change region for the first time, it puts values there."

I would guess that it only removes it if you play from a blu-ray player yes. But check the anydvd forum, http://forum.slysoft.com/

How is the bluray ripped? doesn't dvdfab or anydvd remove region in blu-ray yet?

You CAN'T. It's built into the DVD drive firmware. Hacking the registry ACCOMPLISHES NOTHING! Please stop wasting your time going down this path. The ONLY way to deal with this situation is to go to
    http://tdb.rpc1.com/
and see if there is a hacked firmware for your drive that you can use to flash it with. I have region free firmware on an old Pioneer drive and I got the firmware from this site.

You can thank Hollywood for this. They forced the DVD drive manufacturers to agree to limit the amount of region changes on a drive in a futile attempt to protect region coding on PC playback.

I find this odd as I just assumed if someone ripped a BluRay movie, it would remove region coding. Or did you play a BluRay disc from another region? I have no BluRay drives, so I can only guess that the only way to change the region is to let the OS do it automatically when you pop in a disc from another region and start to play it. Note that DVD drives limit you to 5 changes and on the 5th change, the drive is permanently locked to that region. I assume BluRay has a similar mechanism.
