    I am converting an .flv file into another format... which format do you recommend that will give me the most quality?

    You can't really improve the quality by converting to another format. Garbage In Garbage Out.

    Why do you need to convert?

    Just to add.. What do you want to play it back on? If it's a DVD set top player, encoding to MPEG-2 would be a good choice. If you have a Divx set top player, you could use that format. But if you only want to play it back on a computer, then I would leave it as .flv.

    With encoding, the bitrate you choose is what usually sets the quality. If the file is short, less than a hour, you could use about 9500Kbps for a MPEG-2 bitrate to get the best quality. Or use a bitrate calculator to set a bitrate to fit your media size.

  5. It will not get too much worse if you convert at a high bitrate. Expect some loss of quality and a large increase in file size though. For conversion, try super.
