I'm sorry for asking such a noob question but I'm unable to play a divx mpeg4 in MPC. I downloaded and installed divx3.11 alpha but that didn't help.

Could someone please tell me where I can download this codec?

Download VLC...Sometimes VLC will play what MPC will not...You can also download G-Spot and open the video with it and see what codec you are missing.....Good Luck

lol, I used gspot to tell me that I'm missing divx mpeg4 codec. I also used total video converter which xfers to divx mpeg4. I would install the new divx codec package but I've heard that it installs adware along with it so I was hoping there was somewhere I could get this particular codec?

I want to use MPC to play these files.

I use ffdshow for all divx, xvid decoding. And I think koepis xvid codec supports divx decoding also. But I don't think the free version of divx codec contain and adware, but I haven't tried it for a while.

ok, so I found out what was wrong. I right clicked the .inf file of divx 3.11a instead of opening the divx register file. The inf file placed the codecs in a place where they weren't being read.
