Hi All, looking for some software that could be used to navigate and play Divx movies. I have an older PC hooked up to my TV and currently use VNC to play videos...this works fine but I want other (non-techie) people to be able to play videos as well. The PC is a 2ghz celeron w/ 1gb of ram and a very old Radeon 9200, it is also running Win2k (runs much faster than XP) and I would prefer to keep it that way.
I have a Windows Media Center remote, so if the software supports it that would be great, otherwise I am open to buying another remote. I just want to be clear that I don't need any kind of TV functionality, this is strictly for playing videos over the LAN. Obviously I would prefer free software, but if the best solution costs $20-30, then that would be okay.
If you are familiar with any of the frontends for Mame, I am looking for almost the exact same thing for videos. Just something that shows a list of all the videos, preferably able to import coverart for movies, and when you select a video it launches it in WMP or Winamp. The "Media Portal" software linked elsewhere on this site looks pretty good, but only supports XP.

Media Portal has issues with Win2K but if you search on their forum, you can find easy ways to make it compatible.
A great alternative to Media Portal is GBPVR
But for the things you wish to do, I think "Got all media" may be a better choice
