Ok so I am trying to install all three Binaries.

I downloaded them onto my desktop.

    I 'located' them when asked.

I click 'install' in ffmpeg and it gives me this message ( see pic )

Pleas help, i have no idea what im doing wrong or what i need to do from here...

thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice.

This is a strange one. The error
unexpected EOF while looking for matching `"
usually points to an apostrophe in the path (disk name, folder name or filename), when it is misinterpreted as a quoted part, and it can't find the end quote.
But if your binaries are on the desktop, then there shouldn't be any apostrophes or quote characters:
    /Users/username/Desktop/ffmpegXbinaries20060307/mencoder
    /Users/username/Desktop/ffmpegXbinaries20060307/mplayer
    /Users/username/Desktop/mpeg2enc.intel

Any volume names or folder names with an apostrophe or quote character in its name, that may be involved in the installation?

One other thing I can think of, is a special character in your admin password. The installation might trip over such.

Wow, you my friend are spot on! It was exactly that. I changed the password and it worked.

Thankyou so so much! Big pat on the back for you!

    Wow! Good move, Case!

Is this a deficiency in the way ffmpegX handles things or is this something one should expect from code that is of the *nix persuasion?

You'd have to ask major about that.
However, I do remember a post by someone who had installation problems which turned out to be related to some character in the admin pw.
