dvd to avi problem

hi all,
have not done this in some time so please try to be patient. i used to rip my backups to dvd using Smartripper and then to AVI using Flask. i would like to backup some of my NOW movies to avi so that i can take them on holiday with me, i have tried GK and have had probs along with others like dvdvx. is there a KISS program that will let me make avi didx movies and keep them at a smaller size ie: 700m. your help with this one would be much appreciated.

What problems are you running into? Recent DVD releases can't be ripped with older rippers like SmartRipper (as new protection (AKA corruption) schemes have been invented) - you need something like DVDFab Decrypter to rip. Once properly ripped, AutoGK should work fine.

What problems do you have with autogk?
How do you rip the dvd? Use AnyDVD or DVDFab Decrypter.

You can also try FairUse Wizard instead of AutoGK.

And I would try use xvid instead of divx if you haven't tried that already.

IMO, FairUse Wizard is about as KISS as you can get once you have decrypted the DVD. There is also a freeware version available. I also prefer Xvid.

hi all,
sorry i havent got back earlier, the error i get is error code-2, it happens just as it starts its final codeing, BUT i must admit my pc is kind of cloggy, with a lot of crap on it like everything to do with ripping etc. i have downloaded FAIRUSE and its seems to be going ok, i do like autogk and will give that another go on one of my better behaved pcs. many Thanx
