  1. Ok I've been playing around with this and trying to get the best results but haven't found anything to my liking.

What I am trying to do is burn a UFC dvd to .avi and then seperate each of the fights into a seperate file so I can stream any fight on my Xbox.

Currently I have been burning with dvdfab to computer and then using Any Video Converter to convert the VOB files to a .avi. Then I open that .avi in Any Video Converter and make the cuts in the video but it has to do the conversion again then I have all the files seperated.

The quality of the video is not the best probably because it is avi?? Also is there a better program I can use to make the cuts so it wont have to convert the output?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

  2. Use VirtualDub in Video -> Direct Stream Copy mode (mark-in only on keyframes). Or Smart Rendering mode (only cut GOPs recompressed).

Does that work with DVD - MPEG2?

  4. No, only AVI. He's already converted to AVI and wants to cut the AVI.

  5. It looks to me like he's looking for a better way to do it, one not involving converting to AVI first. If so, you can cut the DVD into pieces using DVDShrink and reauthor into several smaller DVDs, one for each fight. No recompression; no quality loss. Or just cut the VOBs without reauthoring using MPEG2Cut(2) (if the XBox can play VOBs). Or convert the VOBs to MPG using VOB2MPEG if the XBox plays MPGs. Again, no quality loss.

  6. Thanks guys,

Manono the xbox does not play VOB's but I think it will play mpeg, the VOB2MPEG allows you to cut and convert?

VOB2MPEG just repackages the VOB files into an MPEG - no re-encoding or editing is done.
