    Hi all:

I'm trying to play mkv files on windows media center with srt subs. with no success.

Is that possible ?? avi + srt play fine but with mkv files or m4 I can't get srt subs to play.

Is there any way to do that ??

  2. I'm pretty sure VSFilter will work.

Ok but the question is I am using vobsub already.
It works fine with avi files, I can change size , colour, font and even position of the subs on the screen,
however when playing mkv or mp4 videos , subs don't show up.

Do I have to use any special configuration ??

Do you see any subtitles if you use windows media player?

Are you using latest vsfilter / directvobsub ? And not just the old vobsub.

Yes using last build 2.41.6609, and yes it's working with mkv files on WMC and WMP now, my confusion was the mp4 video files.

So now only mp4 videos are not playing the subs.
Is there any solution for this kind of videos ??

    Tks for your time.

Try the disable the windows 7 built in mp4 decoder with preferred filter tweaker. Change the mp4v to use merit.

    From the help file,
The "USE MERIT" option applies a special workaround that has the following effects:
    1) The decoder with the highest merit is used. This behavior is similar to how things worked on older versions of Windows.
    2) Intermediate filters such as DirectVobSub will be loaded.
edit: If you are using windows 7 then....

Ok I have uninstalled everything and I'm testing now with K-lite codec pack full , as it has all the necessary tools. (I think).

    Will give it a try.

Oh my god, I had such an easy solution.

I had installed MEDIA BROWSER , and only now I found that I can use an external player inside WMC+MB.

I set up as external player the KMplayer and no more problems.
