I have been backing up movies for a long time now without a single problem. I recently backed up Venture Bros. Season 2 and it kept freezing on me. After thinking it was merely the DVD player, I tried watching Zodiac on a different DVD player with the same result. I looked at the back of the discs and noticed a strange line running around the disc. The DVDs are not damaged or anything like that. Has anyone else had this problem?...or have any idea if the problem is with my hardware or the software. I am using Ripit4me and DVDshrink. Thanks guys.

Not all recordable DVDs are created equal....some are just crap. There is a good chance that is your problem.

www.nomorecoasters.com and our own DVD Media database are good places to start.

So you guys think it may just be the media I am using? I have used Memorex DVDR before without a problem. Maybe I just got a bad batch? The lines I described showing up only show up when I have to compress a file on a disc. Any thoughts?

  6. Mine would freeze back when I use to use sticky labels on the discs.

Memorex don't make DVDR's. They re-badge other brands, usually poorer quality ones.

Exactly as KBeee said....memorsux are hit or miss....you never know what you are going to get...I avoid them like the plague but then again I always have....even their cassette tapes were NOTHING compared to Maxell.

Well I d/l Nero CD-DVD Speed Tester and ran it a few times. The first time I ran it, I ran the Scan Disk on a blank DVD it said that all sectors were fine. Then I ran it again on a burned DVD an its not even half way through and its coming up with quite a few bad sectors.

  11. Burn slower and see if that helps. Depending on the writer/DVD combo, writing slower often helps!
