Ive just upgraded my sound card froma sounblaster 5.1 to a Blaster X-Fi. However now Im having problems with my WInfast tv2000 XP expert tv capture card.

Everytime I click the record button the audio mute button comes on and I have to click it again to switch it off. Then when I change channels the audio mute comes on and eventually the audio dissapears altogether and I have to shut down WINPVR and start again.

I tried updating to the latest drivers and to the latest version of WINPVR but everytime I started WINPVR the splash screen would appear for a few seconds and then shut down and the program woulndt start.

I have no idea how to fix this as Leadtek dont really have much in the way of tech support.
Its always worked fine until now and I use it to record the football on the weekends so would really like it to work properly.

Well start with the common problem , one tends to overlook ... I'd say you have an issue with "addon" cards , and pc resources conflicting .

Just because a slot is free on the motherboard , dosent mean it should have anything in it ... This is where people , run a ground , when the system has a problem .

    Example :

=== (agp onboard + agp slot)
--- (pci1) ... Should never have a pci card installed ... shares resources with onboard agp / agp slot .
    --- (pci2) ... Shares resources with pci3
    --- (pci3) ... Shares resources with pci2

    In such a system :

Nothing should ever be inserted into pci1 ... Your asking for problems .

This leaves only pci2 or pci3 ... Only (1) may have a device installed .

For those with pci4 and pci5 , the same applies .

    ---

Some pci cards work better in another pci slot ... You'll have to work out which pci slot suits a particular device , then work on the other ...

If you have the same setup as the "example" , then you can only have the capture device installed , and nothing else ... or run into issues with shared resources .

You might be able to change the irq used by the new audio device , from the control panel > system > hardware > device manager > locate audio device > properties > resources tab ... irq is here .

You will need to refer to the manual from the original device , as they do specify these , and compare with those of the new device ... might show a difference .

Even by changing it here , with one not being used by any other hardware , still dosent guarantee , it will work .

What would be handy to know is the motherboards make and model involved ... so we can tell what may have been built into the system board , such as onboard lan / audio .

Its a resource issue / conflict that needs locating ... Would have been handy knowing what the irq was originally used by the older sound card .

Start with , remove the new audio card , and see how the system performs with just the capture card ... This will just tell you the capture device is working once more ... Then move on to audio device .
