  2. There are numerous programs out there that can convert these types of files. Goldwave, is an example (where you would open up the mp3 in the program and then "save as" a .wav).

    I don't know why you want to do this, but keep in mind that this will not improve the quality of the sound from the .mp3, since once it has been compressed to whatever level your .mp3 is encoded at, uncompressing it to a .wav won't restore the original uncompressed digital audio data.

    I believe WinAmp can create a WAV file from an MP3. Start WinAmp, do a CTRL-P to bring up preferences, then click on Output under Plug-ins and select the waveOut output.

    Can't get much simpler.

    thanks to the both of you. the answer to your question- i know it's ridiculous to change mp3s to wavs- is in editing cutting and joining where you'll find me whining about why cut assistant can't work with virtualdubmod, which is the divx cutter that can cut with mp3, so i have to revert to virtualdub...

    anyway, thanks, and i think this is the only thing i can do.
