This one has me baffled. The other day my DVD drive stops writing/formatting DVD +R disks. It does however have no problems with DVD +RW disks. I have 3 other DVD drives that I substituted in my workstation and the same thing happens. So I know the drive is not a problem and neither are the disks because I've tried 3 different brands. I've use Nero and Roxio. Any suggestions? Thanks.

try using IMGBURN to burn your discs. ROXIO is known to cause conflicts with other software. Uninstall it. What brands of dvd media have you used? Also it would be helpful if you told us what brand is your dvd burner.

IMGBURN makes no difference. I often use the drive to store mp3 and other media files. The drive is a Toshiba SD-R5372 and I've used Sony and HP OEM media as well as CompUSA ond others. I'm thinking this is a Windows problem because the other DVD drives I through in are not recognizing the DVD +R disks. Very frustrating !

Clean the lenses and update the firmware to the latest version.
If this does not work try removing the burner with the help of the device manager and reboot.

    Good luck.
