I am looking for a programmable doorbell.
I did a search and found a couple but they were only 'programmable' in a way that they have a cheesy keyboard (about 15 keys) built into the doorbell.
Whatever music you can make from these you can save and use....like this:

I am looking for one that could hook up to my pc and play a part of an mp3 file.
Does anyone know if something like this exists?
Thanks,
Andy

I hate to resurrect a nearly 2 year old thread but I finally found an answer to it.
I was originally going to build something like this with info I found on the web but never got around to it.
Then recently I found just what I was looking for, for sale on line.
You can check it out here:

You can load it up with mp3 or wav files. It looks, works, and sounds great.
As easy to hook up as a regular door bell and just as easy to program. You can program multiple sound clips and it will just cycle through them. They even had it in oak to match the woodwork where I put it
Expensive? A little.
Necessary? Not really.
Cool as hell to hear Krusty the Klown laugh, or Quagmire saying giggity, or your favorite Star Wars or LOTR quotes when someone rings your doorbell? DEFINITELY!!
