So do you have recommendations for a good programmable remote control? It needs to be compatible with the xbox 360 hddvd drive. I now have way, way WAY TOO MANY remotes!!!!
I don't want to spend more than 100.00 on a remote but I want one that will work with all my stuff. I have a westinghouse hdtv, a sony 5.1 amp, a xbox 360 hddvd drive and a insignia upconvert dvd player. Each have their own remote control. I am having trouble remembering which is which - especially since three of them are less than a month old!!!!
I did see there is a xbox branded mega remote for a 100.00. The one that came with the hddvd drive says it won't work with audio devices so that sucks. I know harmon kardon and one other company make mega remotes that control everything.
Whats good? Like I said 100.00 is my limit for remotes. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
EDIT - just went to target.com - I meant to say Logitech harmony not harmon kardon - my mistake....![]()

Logitech harmony -crap
get a URC mx850 or 950 on ebay ..950 much better than the 850 but a bit more money .... even a mx 350 will do all you need to do --but harder to program ....."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
URC? What company is that? Thanks for the suggestion though... Will it work with an xbox 360?

thanks anyway bj_m. I ended up at radioshack today and bought the logitech harmony 520 after all. It does everything I need it to. It recognized everything after I loaded the software on my pc. That was really a good way to program a remote. No freakin codes to fool with. Just type in the serial number and away you go.
Only thing now that I need to do is figure out how to get the fast forward and menu buttons to work on the dvd player. I can do it through the lcd display but I don't know how to activate the ones that are permanent on the remote. I'm sure I just have to read the manual a little closer.
So far I really like it. It even does my 360 well!!! Only one remote now! FINALLY!Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -

I'll agree Harmony is crap.
I spent weeks trying to get it to work (totally) with my TV and surround sound system. Never could get it to work totally right.
One thing that never worked was Power on and Power off of the TV.
It's gathering dust in a box right now. -
You could try this one...
