I am searching for a DVD Player that is capable of having a programmable play time with DVD. For instance, if I place a DVD in and want it to start playing at 7:00 PM and then cut off at 8:00 PM .. and other various times.

My company runs it's own channel on cable and we are looking to broadcast local football games that were recorded and played on DVDs. We have regular programming, but we would like to be able to have a DVD Player that would interrupt the programming to broadcast a football game and then return back to regular programming when the time ran out.

Does a DVD Player like that exist?

I have never heard of any player that can do this. Based on the lack of response, it would seem that no one else has either.

You could do it with a HTPC, or perhaps a high-end professional player, but nothing standard or consumer oriented comes to mind.

A combination of products can work .

A: Place disc in player ... disc must be authored to play title from start .
B: Leave units power switch on .
C: Use a power timer to control power to unit to start up , and shut off at preset time .

Do it with a cheapo player .

More expensive power timers have the ability to store multiple events over numerous days .

Thanks for the replies. I had tried to do some research before posting, and I came up with very little results as well. Especially in the consumer side of DVD players. I will check out those power timers.

    Thanks all for your input!

Pay very close attention to A in Bjs' suggestion. If your DVD requires any interaction at all to play (ie. a button must be selected on a menu to start play), this idea won't work. That's why it's the first thing he listed - it's a deal breaker if your DVD requires any interaction at all to start playing.

There is no need or demand for such a feature on DVD players, which is why nobody knows of any models that can do what you are looking for. Think about it - did you know of any VCRs that could be programmed to PLAY (not record but play) a tape at a given time? I don't. You're not going to have a lot of options here if Bjs' suggestion doesn't work, you're out of luck.
