Sound Issue

The person talking is too close to the microphone (I think that's why) and the Ss and such are distorted and sharp. I tried filtering it out using it's fingerprint and noise reduction in Goldwave but it makes the whole file odd. Anyway if anybody knows a way to get rid of or at least lessen this it would be great. This is also a recording on an audio tape if that helps any.

Ok, I read that thread but since there was no real resolution it didn't quite help. I tried FloorFish De-Esser but it didn't really seem to do anything. The one that did seem to work is Renaissance DeEssser. It's expensive but they have a trial if you only need limited use. Here is the edited file.

You could take a look at the demo of Magix Audio Cleaning Lab

ACL has some pretty decent (tweakable) presets to de-hiss and de-noise, and does have a De-Esser (but not in the main interface with the other de-noisers, take a look at the help files to track down where and how to use it).
I've never used de-esser, but other settings do pretty well for me.

Demo won't let you save your work, but you can get a clear idea of how well this app does or doesn't meet your needs. (not TOO expensive, I think around $40 USD these days.)

Yeah it's not going to be perfect and I wish I could just get something else but it's a sentimental thing (I wouldn't spend all this time for nothing ). I think that's about as good as it's going to get (I don't want to spend another 3 hours trying to tweak insesantly).
