this has been bashing my brain in, so i have a video (ninja scroll remastered) in AVI format. it plays great on my mac through divX and VLC, i am trying to get it stored on my playstation 3. when i try to play the file on the ps3 the video play's fine but the audio doesnt work. first i tried the divX converter. which worked to produce sound, but the sync of the sound is way ahead, i figured i would try some other stuff people have been doing around the web. i have 2 computers a 2009 mac mini and 2008 late model macbookpro with bootcamp and a copy of windows vista 64 bit. so ive tried using ps3 video 9, SUPER, and DivX converter. they all seem to get sound but it does the same out of sync thing with all of them. so i gave in and registered thinking someone here may know how to fix this. i have a cool prog called media info that i thought may help me help you guys help me. :P

here's the info on the file.

EDIT: also used 3gp converter with no luck, however i finally got a working copy with handbrake. witch was actually the fastest, downside the file went from 900mb to 1.5 gb.
but it looks good and sounds good. mod can delete this thread.

It seems that you have two different MP3 audiostreams in your AVI file.

I don't know much about the PS3 device, but the manual:
    http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/video/filetypes.html
says audio should either be LPCM or AAC.

I would try to demux the mp3 audio out of the *.AVI file, recode the audio to *.m4a (aac), and remux the recoded audio into the *.AVI file. (LPCM is probably not an option, because it wil take up 10 times more space than MP3 or AAC).
