It looks like you have VBR Audio in your files.
You need to re-compress the Audio first for each of the files with CBR MP3 & then join them.

You might try dropping them in Gspot 2.70 as it will tell you if they are VBR. I use VirtualDub Mod most of the time and it will immediately let you know if you have VBR.

The two files have to be exactly the same to join them with VD or VDM. If you are joining them to convert to DVD afterwards, I wouldn't. It's better to encode them to MPEG-2 separately and let your authoring program 'join' them. A lot less chance of sync problems that way.

But if you do need them joined, you will have to change one or the other so they match. Or you might try AVIDeMux and it may be able to join them as they are.

BTW, for VBR audio using VDM, I use extract out the audio as a WAV using full audio processing, then add it back in. If you want to keep the Xvid format, re-encode the audio to MP3 CBR and the video with Direct stream copy.

  4. The error message is telling you the audio sample rates are different. If you export as uncompressed WAV in VirtualDub you'll also need to use the Audio -> Conversion... function to change them both to the same sample rate.

    Just about this AVI Demux.

Can it join 2 avi clips without re-compressing them, just like VirtualDub??

    Thanks a lot.

    Yes.
    CTRL+O opens first file
    CTRL+ALT+A opens your second file

Thanks a lot, steveryan. Will definitely try that program because re-compressing VBR audio in VirtualDub sometimes gets annoying
