    Hello,
    Just a quick question:
    Does the re-encoding make watermark permanent? For example, I have an AVI videoclip that is watermarked, if reencoded to MPG format, is there any way I can remove the watermark from new MPG file?
    Please guide.

    Watermarks on videos are usually permanent to begin with, so if you encode the video to another format, it'll still be there. One exception is if it's your codec or player software displaying a watermark over the video while it's playing.

    What kind of watermark do you have?
    If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

    OK, let me re-phrase the question (or my original problem);

    I want to add a watermark on a video clip that could be removed by only me.

    Now why I asked the first question is because I know that when you are adding a watermark, it means you are changing the frequency domain characteristics of the video signal and the process could be reversed if you know exactly the timing information and amount of information is being added. BUT, if you transcode the video (e.g., change from AVI to MPG) the original frequency domain informations are lost and it is almost impossible to remove the watermark completely from the reencoded video.

    So back to first question, is there any way I can get the transcoded video without watermark?

    Any suggestion? Any links? I tried to search on this forum but no luck. Also, googled it but no satisfactory answer there.
