I have a Lg GSA 2166D burner it is a usb external in device manager it shows up as unknown device. I plugged it into a different port the message says " USB device has malfunctioned & Windows doesn't recognize it. I rebooted to see if that helped before I tried a different port to no avail. It was working fine on Sunday when I last used it. Any suggestions or is my drive dead?

It would have probably done that without even deleting it first. Just moving it from USB port to USB port has the same effect.

Most likely a USB issue, but may also be a drive problem.

  4. Often they have drivers that you have to put on your machine way before connecting it.
