I have the subtitle .srt and the dvd, i wanted to load the sub with the vob file in Subtitle workshop, to preview the subs.

When i try to open Vts_01_1.vob in it says :

".../.../Vts_01_1.vob is not a valid video file".

Is there any other prog that can do that, or a way to do this in subtitle workshop ?

    Thanks

Just Copy-Paste that .VOB to your PC hard drive and change the extension to .mpg. After that Subtitle Workshop should open it.

If you just wish to preview .VOB with .srt subtitles, use KMPlayer. It will open .VOB and then use a shortcut Alt+O to load your .srt subtitle. If you wish to edit that subtitle use another shortcut Alt+Q, which would open subtitle explorer.
