i have this problem with several files. when i try to burn a dvd, using Nero, when i try to load the file i get a message "unable to insert....". this file is good because i can watch it on my computer but won't do to dvd. when i open it though G-Spot it tells me right off the bat that it is "not a valid avi file" but it will render properly. (i have some that says "damaged header" but that's a problem for another day.) some of these files came from Utube and were converted using RIVA flv converter (as learned the the kim komando site). as i mentioned all these files will play with media player classic, VLC, and windows media player. if someone could help me get these files to dvd i would be very appreciative.

Just because they play doesn't mean they will encode to DVD properly. VLC for one, can play corrupted files that most encoders would reject.

What format are they presently in?

You might try SUPER instead of Riva. Or look at this guide for Riva: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic259578.html And you may find a few FLV format videos you can't convert.

You can sometimes fix a damaged header by running the AVI through VirtualDub or VD Mod and doing a direct stream copy. (If they are now a AVI?) Or use VDM or VD to check for errors.

    And welcome to our forums.

You mean the SUPER GUI window? You have to be running at a resolution higher than 800x600 (probably at least 1024x768). If you do make the change, you have to change the desktop resolution and then reboot.

You'd think they could consolidate the window or rearrange it a little so that people wouldn't be having problems with it, since it seems to be one of the common 'problems' listed in their FAQ.
