    I shutdown my windows xp laptop normally (start-shutdown) and then when i went back to turn it back on, i was greeted with nothing but a black screen. Nothing shows up not even the white fonted- specs of my system...is my laptop dead? or is there a way to fix this?

    no its plugged in with an ac adapter...i hear no harddrive activity its, i just hear one fan going, the sound of the "hum" of the computer is significantly quieter than before.
