Ok time for a public opinion poll on music preferences. This time a couple of heavy hitters for rock.
I like both a lot but I think Springsteen might get an edge for me in overall song strength (ie more pop than rock). BUT I give a big thumbs up to local Michagander SEGER![]()

So which do you like more? Do you like both the same??? Neither??

I realize that this Poll thing must be hard-to-do i.e., coming up with a new poll every week or so.
BUT ...
This poll is ridicules!
Who gives a flying F about either of these two loser "rock/pop" stars?
Talk about uninspired ... there isn't even a STAR WARS option?!?!?
Were you like sick this week or something?
I mean man I love ya and support you but one has to draw a line at some point and this particular poll is just ... it's very poor.

Fulci
Lighten up, offer some suggestions, answer the poll and move along. Not every poll is going to appeal to everybody.
While polls like "Doggy style or Missionary" or "Buggers, eat them, wipe them or flick them" or "Favorite breast size" may draw a bigger crowd, I don't quite think they are front page material.

Yes...Maybe this poll should have had a title more like "Back in the Day"
But, being one of the older members (I believe) on this forum, maybe I have
somewhat of a greater appreciation for both the men's music. (I voted "Both")
It might be because of this, I believe both of these artist's music does trancend
time, and can speak to music fans of all ages.
How can you hear the rockin' rhythm of Seger's "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man" or the
soulful "Turn the Page"...and not feel the man himself.
As for Bruce Springsteen...rockers like "Born to Run" & "Born in the U.S.A." are
songs that, "Walk the Walk"...very few...can deny that.
Times change...public's taste in music changes...
(can you remember when there was NO Rap music on MTV...I can)
I for one, think these guys songs endure.

I think this is a tuff call as stated before. Here we have two guys that have kind of stood the test of time and in my opinion were only ever like "B" rated artist. (No doubt that a live performance could change mine or anyone elses opinion). Tuff also because (Not knowing the full spectrum of either) I think that they are two different styles or taste almost as wide as country and hard rock. Off of the top of my head and my failing memory I said that one has soul and the other the drive, and I kind of still stand by that.
I shouldn't knock anyones taste in music, but I say say that hands down they beat alot of the new crap that is comming out these days (And there was new crap in the days of old as well). And, yes, I remember when MTV played music.
I voted both, but they are still not on my top ten list.IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

I'm with hech54. Both were overrated. I used to take a lot of heat from my friends about Seger, (him being a Michigander and all), but I just never thought he was that good..

I never liked Springsteen much. His voice is too strained. It sounds like he's trying to sing without opening his mouth too wide.
Bob Seger is one of those "4 hit wonders." He's got 3 or 4 really good songs and the rest just kinda barely get the job done. But Turn the Page is still one of my all-time favorite songs so he gets my vote.

Seger! Definately, Bob's the man hands down. Bruce is way too overrated IMO ... he's good and all don't get me wrong but I'm just a little BrucedOUT!
On a personal note - I'd take Rod Stewart over both Seger and Springsteen though, back in those good ol' days that is.
Here's to another fellow Michigander!

Hi,
FulciLives must've watched too much Fulci over the holidays ;-b. I think both of these artists have earned their place in Rock (Ancient) History. For my money Springsteen's reach exceeded his grasp sometimes, kind of like William Shakespeare meets Phil Spector!? Bob Seger was the opposite, he didn't seem to try to reach too far beyond his Blue Collar roots, and so the intellectual critics don't give him his due. Even James Brown (RIP) would've been hard pressed to out work Springsteen on stage though, some of those early shows went on for over 3 hours!!! Cool poll Yodester!

Both Springsteen and Seger have more talent than 99% of todays groups. I enjoy both of their music, but choose Seger over Springsteen by a little bit. The majority of present day music is unbearable. That is why CD sales are down; very little good music is being produced. Quite frankly, I am surprised as to what passes off as music these days.

I forgot to give Seger special credit for his lyrics in "Turn the Page" about Tinnitus:
