I need to edit a DVD. I do not have the MPEGS. I use Vegas 7. How can I turn the DVD back to MPEG2s? TKS

Yup. Another way (my favorite) is to configure DVDshrink to ignore the 1GB limitation on VOB sizes and save the DVD into a hard disk folder as a huge VOB file. Then, just change the ".VOB" extension to ".MPG" and, Eureka, an editable MPEG2 file. The non-MPEG information in the VOB file is just ignored by editors and demux utilities.Originally Posted by redwudz

DVD Decryptor had that function as well:
Use PGC mode, set to not split files. Save program. Result was one big Mpeg..... -
Just a word of caution when renaming VOBs to .mpgs. VOBS are split at the 1GB mark, irregardless of chapters, etc. If you just convert one VOB to a .mpg, you may likely find the video extends to several other VOBs. Extracting the whole DVD main video to a single VOB or .mpg is best.
