  1. Hiya
Just about to buy a DVD Recorder & am just wondering when you record home video from digital camcorder to the dvd recorder, what format does it record to on the disc? Is it the Audio_TS / Video/TS format, or avi's or .......... ?
Thanks in advance - No one in the shops seem to know!

The core format is MPEG-2 and you can usually choose between the VIDEO_TS / VOB's wrapper or VRO files.

The former is usually referred to something like "Video Mode", and the latter is something like "VR Mode" (where VR is Video Recorder).

Different manufacturers will have varying terminology.

  4. Buy a DVD recorder with firewire input, and you can digital transfer your tape to disc.

Are there any DVD records that write to a format other than MPEG?
