Audio problems with camcorder capture to dvd-r recorder

I am currently trying to transfer sony Hi8mp 8mm tape to dvd, specificly to mpeg. The camcorder has a video and a single audio jack. I can only get the audio out of one speaker. Is there a way I can split the audio signal into two eg a left and a right so audio comes from both? I am using a sylvainia vhs/dvd-r standalone unit. Thank you in advance for your advice.

Buy a cheap splitter cable that will deliver the audio to both left and right inputs of your recorder. It will still be mono, but at least it will be in both channels instead of having to do it by hand later.
