    all was great before I installed Tmpeg DVD author w/divx support

    I record live TV with WinVDR and divx 6.5 to avi format, dx50 is the 4cc
    records gr8
    plays with divx or ffdshow in zoom player
    but
    when I try to inport it into virtualdub 1.6 it ID's it as xvid - virtualdub crashes

    change 4cc to "xvid" - virtualdub crashes

    change 4cc to "divx" - all is well and bye bye adds, chop chop

    any ideas on how I can tell virtualdub that dx50 is divx and not xvid

    thx

    That may well be your answer right there. Uninstall it and see if it is fixed.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. Start -> All Programs -> Xvid -> Configure Decoder -> FourCC Support -> uncheck DX50.

    jagabo any chance you could post the target line from xvid config shortcut
    would rather not get into a install/uninstall cycle untill i've tried enerything else

    thx for the ideas guys !

    That fine, but wouldn't a fix by uninstalling prove that it is definitely something that TDA is doing ?

    At the moment you've got a whole spectrum of avenues to ignore. At least if you can narrow it down then it should be quicker to fix.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. Xvid Config shortcut:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe xvid.ax,Configure

    Paste into Start -> Run

    my bad !

    had bi-directional encoding enabled in divx,
    TDA musta enabled it on install and I never saw it

    turn that off and no more "packed bitstream" in G-spot
    opens in vdub
    never had that enabled before doing realtime TV recording

    thx for the replies guys
