I bought a brand new dvd burner.

    Here is my question,

I know the external dvd burner reads and then writes the dvd.

But what if I plug in a CD burner, would I be able to put in a dvd in there and that can be read, and then burn it on the dvd burner?

Or do have to put in the DVD in the external dvd burner in order to read and write it????

No. CD drives cannot read DVDs. Dual format drives can. If you CD burner has DVD-ROM written on the front it will be able to.

And please, in future, make your subject more meaningful. many people will simply pass by a post that has a meaningless subject like "Weird Question"
