Does anybody know if there are any security problems with AIM?
I am receiving log messages indicating that someone is probing my ports. And, by coincidence, this probing only happens when I am running AIM.
Is there a way for hackers to probe ports via AIM?
thanks in advance

There are plenty of hacking tools available for using against AIM and ICQ. If you want to protect yourself then you should run the latest version of it as well as an up to date virus protector and firewall program i.e Norton Personal Firewall, BlackICE, Zone Alarm

Some 19 year old kid in a small town in Utah hacked aim so it was possible to delete files. AIM was notified and do have an update.
I wish I would have kept the URL for the article.
It made national news a couple of weeks ago.
