I use nLite to remove the nonsensical Windows Secrurity Center. However, it still appears in Category View in the Control Panel (of course it has been removed as when you click on it nothing happens). TweakUI cannot remove this as it only works for classic view....anyone know how to remove the Security Center icon from Category View?

#1..That is the DUMBEST thing I've ever read...

My opinion...
Are we talking XP ???? -
Well, you could probably live without Security Center, but I just disable it reporting that I have turned off some features. On my XP machine, I disable automatic updates, antivirus and firewall warnings as I have a separate firewall and AVG takes care of itself, so I don't need Windows reminding me.
With some parts of XP being integrated, you might be causing some other problems, but there's always a re-install if it messes anything up.
Probably to remove the icon, you would need to find where it's implemented in the Registry and eliminate it there. Back up your Registry first, though. -
Yeah just turn off the alert settings and it's as if the Security Center doesn't exist.
