my main goal is to get from my laptop (using a random internet connection) and get onto my computer at home(connected to local cable with firewall/router).
currently i am using Hamachi VPN, and then having that on my laptop as well, and that way i am on the same Network, and then i can use the remote desktop in windows xp to connect to my house computer.
but problems, i can only do so, if my house computer is logged in and running Hamachi VPN. so i have put Hamachi in my startup, but i have a password on my computer at home. So how can i connect to my house network, with just having my computer on, but not logged in.
please help.
thanks ahead of time.

I use Hamachi, and I love it.
I would recommend that you go to the effort of making it run as a service as that would help you with the logging in. That would save you the problem of worrying about logging in an having hamachi running as it's running as a system service with windows. Just start up your machine, and no need to even log in, and you will have access to it.
You are only putting it on startup which really won't work when you log onto the machine. -
havent tried it yet, but looks really involved. anyother methods that people have used that maybe easier?

I use www.logmein.com
Requires a simple install but works great.
No messing around with firewall and router.
Make sure you install the free version.
