I have a Pioneer 111D thats burns great at 4X. I've always used 4X blanks until now. I just bought a 100 pack of SONY 16X DVD-R and when i use DVDFab it fails to write at 16X all the time. If i slow down my burn on NERO to 4X it works great. Anybody know what the problem could be?
Thanx in advance for any help.

    Several possibilities:

You are using a 40 Conductor IDE cable, which may effect the speed of some drives
Your drive is in the Slave position on the IDE cable. Some drives seem to perform better in the Master position
Your drive has reverted to PIO mode. Not as likely, as it would probably only burn at 2X
Your drive doesn't have the proper firmware for those discs
Nero is not setting the burn speed properly. Try ImgBurn instead for the burning part
The drive needs cleaning, dirt on the laser lens

But I would try a different brand of DVD disc first, and try ImgBurn as the most inexpensive alternatives

    And welcome to our forums.
