I recently bought a new HD television and I am now having problems recording with my DVD-R. I was searching for a solution and came upon this forum.
I use the timer feature on my DVD recorder, I leave the cable box on and set to the channel I want to record, and I turn the television off. This has always worked in the past.
When I finish recording, I only have sound and I get one of two video error messages:
DVI Alert
Your HDTV does not support HDCP.
Please use the YprPb component connection to watch TV
Or
Copy Protection
The DVI/HDMI output is blocked.
Press EXIT to Cancel
This happens if I have the TVs input set to HDMI or AV2 while recording (see below for connection information).
My equipment set up is as follows:
Cable box: Scientific Atlanta Explore 4250HD
DVD-R/VCR: Magnavox MWR20V6
Television: Philips Plasma HD 42PF9631D
My connections are as follows:
Incoming coaxial cable is connected to the input on the cable box.
The outgoing coaxial cable is connected to the DVD recorder.
I do not have any coaxial cable going from the cable box to the TV.
I do not have any coaxial cable going from the DVD recorder to the TV.
I have an HDMI cable connected from the cable box directly to the TV.
I have the yellow video and red and white audio cables going from the DVD recorder into the AV2 input on the back of the TV. They are going from the output section of the Magnavox that is to be used for both DVD and VCR operation.
I am able to watch both DVDs and VHS tapes perfectly with this set up.
I am able to timer record perfectly if I leave the TV on while recording, however, this is not preferable.
I'd greatly apprecaite any advice. Thank you very much for your assistance.
Frank
