I've got an ATI 9600XT and I purchased the DVI-to-HDTV adapter from their site this week.
    http://shop.ati.com/product.asp?sku=2537967

I have installed the device as per the instructions, but the user manual is OLD and refers to ATI Control Panel instead of their new stupid-ass Catalyst Control Center.

After screwing around for hours trying to get an image on my screen using Catalyst, I gave up and uninstalled it completely.
I have a standard monitor connected to the VGA output and the aforementioned adapter connected to the DVI output, then connected to the component inputs on a Sony KV-36HS420.
    The television is capable of displaying 480i, 480p, 720p, & 1081i.
Using Catalyst, I could only get a very jittery and very small image on the television and no matter what settings I played with, I couldn't make it look any better.
Most changes to the "HDTV" properties in Catalyst would also result in heavily distorting the image shown on my regular monitor as well.....

I dug around my hard drive and found an old version of the ATI Control Panel and installed it.
Now it has 4 'tabs' on the Displays tab: Monitor, TV, Flat Panel, & YPrPb.
I click the little "Power" button on the YPrPb tab and get an image on the TV, but it's still small and jittery.....
playing around with the options and settings is much more straight-forward than in Catalyst, but I still can't get it to show up right.
the best I've gotten without severly distorting the monitor image is a 'widescreen' version of the screen to show up on the TV. It is a very clear and sharp picture and the text is legible (SO much better than when I was using S-Video), but it is distorted because my TV is 4:3, not 16:9 -- everything is short & fat.
Disabling the 16:9 on the adapter has no effect. Over-riding the adapter settings within the Control Panel also has no effect.
If I use the TV's "Zoom" feature, it only shows me the middle area of the screen.

Can anybody tell me what to do to make my PC's screen show up correctly on my HDTV?
I have searched ATI's site, but found nothing that pertains...
Is there anybody here that uses this device and knows how to adjust the settings?

    TIA!!!

I've used one with a ATI 9550 video card, worked fine with my video projector. I think I ended up with a resolution of 848 X 480 (I have a 800 X 600 projector). But it also worked with 1024 X 768, though I had some problems with the shape and size of the screen. I use a HDTV ratio screen. I used the YPrPb output. If you get the dip switches set right, it should work OK. I have used the older ATI drivers and the newer Catalyst drivers both.

It's been a while, but it seems you need to set a 60Hz refresh rate, at least to start with. I don't have my projector hooked up at the moment, but I think it was set at 480P, at least I know it was set to progressive. I now use a ASUS MB that has built in component video, so it's been about a year since I used it with the 9550 card.

There should be a few other members that have used this setup. The 9550 was about the cheapest card that would work with the adapter, and there should be a lot of setups using similar out there.
