My Acer AL2216w has both a vga & Dvi output. I am currently using the vga, because the dual monitor videocard I have (EVGA 256-P2-N297-LX GeForce 6200LE TC) has (1)DVI & (1) VGA and another lcd is using the DVI port

I was hoping to be able to attach this adapter to my dvi cable to get a better resolution on the vga lcd.

HD15(VGA) Male to DVI-A Female Adapter (Gold Plated)
Use this adapter to change your VGA output connector to a DVI connector *.

    * This adapter will only work if your DVI monitor supports DVI analog connections. If your DVI monitor only supports digital connections, this adapter will not work. Please consult the user manual of your display to ensure that it supports DVI analog connections before purchasing.

I have been unable to find out if my monitor supports DVI analog connections. Anyone know if it does?

  2. There won't be any difference in quality between using the VGA connector and the VGA portion of the DVI connector.

Note that those converters don't convert VGA to digital DVI, they just route the VGA pins from the VGA port to the analog VGA pins on the DVI connector.

  4. There are lots of graphics cards with two DVI connectors. At NewEgg they usually start around US$60.

NewEgg's filtering for 2 DVI connectors doesn't work very well but there are many in the list:
