I share shows with a friend and recently have received shows coded with 2sd in the title. For example:

    the.show.dsr.xvid-2sd.avi

I have trouble playing all shows with the 2sd indicator. I have Media Player Classic as my default player and depending on the show, get sound but no video or just a frozen black screen that says "playing," but it is not--and if I jump ahead, it shows a time passage, but still remains black, silent, unmoving.

is there a special codec for 2sd material? I can sometimes play the same eps in REAL and they work (although sometimes they are jumpy), but I certainly hate to use that if I don't have. I have up to date divx codecs and have the ffdshow and ac3 packs installed.

    Thank you for your help.

  2. This appears to have nothing to do with SVCD2DVD. Files created with this program would be .mpg and would say S2D, not 2sd.

You will have better luck posting in a more appropriate forum.

  3. Open the problematic file in GSpot and post an image of what you see there.

Sorry this was in the wrong place--I tried to find the specific forum for this issue. And everything searching for "2sd" suggested the other forum.

Here is the gspot info, main window and all assorted info. As you can see, it says I should play. This particular vid played sound in MPC, but no video. Others with the same gspot info only provide a black screen.

You might want to update your version of GSpot - the latest version is 2.70a, and may well offer more information about the videos.

Run it through Divfix++ and see if it fixes the file

Thanks folks. Here's an updated gspot cap.

I ran through divfix and it said "no errors."

    still won't play properly.

Play the file with GMplayer http://tirnanog.fate.jp/mirror/mplayer/gmplayer2007.02.14.7z

See if plays correctly with it. If it DOES, then your Divx/Xvid codec is being problematic.

It did play with GMPlayer, thank you. So how do I fix the divx/xvid codecs? Reintall?

and by the way, I hadn't used that 7zip compression before--damn, that's an amazing compression rate!

    thanks for the help!
